CU's operations are organized into Organizational Units that develop and execute plans to carry out the University's mission and achieve its objectives. These units obtain and utilize resources, the financial impact of which is accumulated and summarized in the University's financial records.
As a public, tax-exempt institution, CU is obligated to comply with numerous laws, policies, rules, regulations, and sponsor / donor requirements. These external entities trust that the university's financial statements are complete and accurate, which cannot happen without the help of all employees and affiliates who have financial management duties. As a financial manager, it is important for you to understand:
- the driving forces behind our current fiscal culture, and the main tenets of the related policies
- the hierarchy of policies, procedural statements, and guidelines
- the need for confidentiality and security of system data
